I live in malta where they have been cooking garden (land)scales for centuries (Bebbux). They are great as appitizers. After you have thoughly washed them, put then in a pot with a can of lager, a few cloves of garlic, a tablespoon of curry power, salt, a teaspoon of brown sugar and a splash of Worcester sauce. Boil them until they leave the shells easily and then rapidly boil away the liquor till almost dry; delicious!

They are delicious! You can find large snails in most parts of the US. I’m not quite sure why yours are so small. Many fine dining restaurants (especially French ones) will serve escargot.

I have never had snails and living here in the USA in my region I don’t think we have the same kind of snails. We have little snails and I mean tiny compaired to the ones you all have in your Gardens so I don’t think I can find the big ones here to try them. What is it that they taste like?

I have just come back home from my Aunt-in-law’s country hovel (2 rooms, outside toilet), here in Bulgaria; we went to pick cherries, but I got seriously side-tracked by the fact that the cherry trees were full of whopping-great snails (as far up the branches as twice my height – I’m 6 foot 2) – so now snooping around on the internet while the 200 snails I gathered are fasting on my balcony.
